From Semiconductors and Quality Inspection to Smart Logistics, Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration to Cultivate Job-Ready Talent.

I-Shou University (ISU) has achieved outstanding results in the 2026 Science Park Talent Development Subsidy Program, with three projects receiving full approval and one project selected as a reserve project. This accomplishment highlights the University’s strengths in interdisciplinary integration, industry–academia collaboration, and talent cultivation. In response to emerging trends such as semiconductors, smart manufacturing, and global supply chain restructuring, ISU continues to promote modular, hands-on, and industry-oriented curricula. By strengthening partnerships with the Southern Taiwan Science Park and the Greater Southern Technology Corridor, the University aligns higher education with industry needs while preparing students for the future workforce.

The three approved projects are:

  • Science Park PCB Semiconductor Talent Development Internship Program
  • Science Park Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Professional Talent Development Program
  • Science Park Customs, Port Trade, and Logistics Talent Development Program

These initiatives focus on critical sectors including semiconductor manufacturing, quality management, and smart logistics, directly addressing the industry’s growing demand for highly skilled professionals.

The Science Park PCB Semiconductor Talent Development Internship Program, led by Professor Chia-Jung Cho from the Department of Chemical Engineering, emphasizes the integration of semiconductor and printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing processes. Through close collaboration with industry partners, the program provides practical training in semiconductor packaging substrates while equipping students with expertise in materials analysis, manufacturing technologies, AI-driven process analysis, and sustainable manufacturing. This industry-oriented curriculum enhances students’ employability and bridges the gap between academic learning and professional practice.

The Science Park QA/QC Professional Talent Development Program, directed by Professor Chia-Hsing Chen from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology, combines standardized quality management systems with advanced testing techniques. In partnership with Yuma Taiwan’s Southern Taiwan Science Park Branch, students receive hands-on training in a GMP-compliant working environment. Leveraging the department’s strengths in clinical laboratory quality management, the program develops professionals with advanced quality assurance and quality control capabilities, expanding students’ career opportunities while narrowing the gap between education and industry.


The Science Park Customs, Port Trade, and Logistics Talent Development Program, led by Professor Su-Li Lin from the Department of International Business, integrates expertise in international trade, customs administration, and logistics management. Through co-teaching by academic faculty and industry professionals, professional certification guidance, and corporate internships, students gain practical knowledge in smart logistics and customs operations while enhancing their hands-on skills and helping businesses strengthen supply chain competitiveness.

In addition, the AI-Driven Smart Manufacturing and Digital Mechatronics Integration Program, led by Professor Chung-Kun Yen from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, has been selected as a reserve project. Centered on industry needs, the program integrates artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, mechatronic control, and digital transformation technologies. Through industry partnerships, company visits, joint teaching with industry experts, project-based learning, and internships, it aims to develop students’ interdisciplinary problem-solving abilities and support industrial upgrading through digital manufacturing talent development.

Overall, these achievements demonstrate ISU’s strong capability in designing industry-driven curricula and establishing comprehensive industry–academia collaboration mechanisms. Through a systematic educational framework and practice-oriented training model, the University has created a learning environment where students “learn by doing, apply while learning, and graduate career-ready.” This approach significantly enhances students’ professional competitiveness and their ability to contribute to industry.

Outstanding faculty members remain one of ISU’s greatest strengths and a key driver of its educational excellence. In recent years, the University’s achievements have received widespread recognition. In the Global Views Monthly 2025 University Rankings, ISU was recognized for its excellence in AI development and sustainable education and was named “Taiwan’s Most Promising Private University.” In 2026, the University was ranked No. 1 among private comprehensive universities in Southern Taiwan by Global Views Monthly and was also recognized by 1111 Job Bank as the “Top Choice of Employers in Southern Taiwan for University Graduates 2026.” These honors reflect the University’s strong academic reputation and social recognition.

Internationally, ISU ranked among the top 8.3% of universities worldwide in the 2025 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). Several faculty members were also included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, demonstrating the University’s outstanding research performance and global academic impact.
