From Learning Japanese to Working Abroad: I-Shou University Creates a Comprehensive Talent Pipeline for Careers in Japan
As demand for global talent continues to grow, I-Shou University is strengthening its international education by connecting students with overseas learning, internship, and employment opportunities. The University’s Department of Applied Japanese has developed a comprehensive talent development pathway that combines language learning, industry engagement, overseas internships, and career placement, equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in Japan’s job market.
Ahead of the 2026 winter break, the department invited Akiko Saito, a news anchor from Japan’s Kagoshima Television, to conduct workshops on Japanese job interviews and workplace communication. Students also participated in an online business exchange with Ryutaro Hamada, President of AURIC Co., Ltd., gaining firsthand insights into Japanese corporate culture and the service industry.
In May 2026, the department hosted an internship and recruitment seminar with the popular Japanese restaurant brand Gyumaru (ぎゅう丸), giving students valuable information about career opportunities and workplace expectations in Japan.
Through its integrated “Learning–Training–Internship–Employment” model, I-Shou University enables students to develop not only Japanese language proficiency but also cross-cultural communication skills and practical workplace experience. According to Professor Pei-Jung Yang, Director of the Japan Research Center and Chair of the Department of Applied Japanese, the department’s Multi-Stage Learning Program bridges classroom learning with real-world industry experience, helping students transform their academic interests into international careers.
Many graduates have gone on to work in Japan for leading companies such as TSMC Japan and UNIQLO. Moving forward, I-Shou University will continue expanding its partnerships with Japanese businesses and educational institutions to provide students with broader global learning opportunities and stronger career pathways.
