As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the media and digital content industries, higher education is also evolving toward greater integration of technology, interdisciplinary learning, and international collaboration. From July 20 to August 3, 2026, faculty members from I-Shou University (ISU) visited Sripatum University (SPU) in Thailand for a 15-day faculty research exchange. Led by Chia-Kun Lee, Chair of ISU’s Department of Mass Communication, and Chia-Wei Chen, Assistant Professor in the Department of Film and Television, the exchange focused on AI-generated imagery, cross-cultural storytelling, cross-language research, and joint publications. Through research discussions, teaching observations, and academic and administrative exchanges, the two universities explored new opportunities for long-term collaboration in communication and digital media research.
I-Shou University Strengthens Taiwan–Thailand Collaboration in Communication and AI Research through Faculty Exchange at Sripatum University
The exchange followed a visit by an SPU delegation to I-Shou University in April, which established a foundation for further academic collaboration. Following the visit, SPU formally invited ISU faculty members to Thailand for research exchange. During the program, Dr. Rutchaneeporn Pookayaporn Phukkamarn, President of Sripatum University, attended the welcome event for the visiting faculty and brought together colleagues from the School of Digital Media and School of Communication Arts.
As AI continues to transform the global media and digital content industries, I-Shou University will continue strengthening partnerships with higher education institutions across Southeast Asia. Future collaboration with Sripatum University will focus on faculty research, student learning, cross-cultural content creation, joint publications, curriculum collaboration, student exchange, and talent development.
Through sustained collaboration, ISU and its Thai partners aim to build long-term academic partnerships and provide students with opportunities to develop AI application skills, cross-cultural communication abilities, creative thinking, and global perspectives—preparing the next generation of communication professionals to work across cultures, technologies, and media environments.
