ISU Film and Television Alumnus Tseng Jing-Hua Wins Best Actor at 2026 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards

I-Shou University’s commitment to nurturing film and television talent has once again received international recognition. Tseng Jing-Hua, an outstanding alumnus of ISU’s Department of Film and Television, has won the Best Actor Award at the 2026 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards for his performance in The Way We Keep the Sun. The achievement follows his Best Supporting Actor win at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards for A Journey Home, marking another significant milestone for an ISU film and television alumnus and highlighting the University’s long-standing commitment to professional training in hbthe screen industries.

The Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards brings together outstanding productions and creative talent from across Asia and beyond. Tseng’s recognition for Best Actor reflects his continued development as an actor and his presence on the international screen-content stage.

For I-Shou University, the achievement is also an important reflection of the learning and training provided through its Film and Television program. Tseng began his journey in the ISU campus community before developing his career across major film and television platforms. His achievements provide an inspiring example for current students pursuing careers in acting and screen production.

Tseng is also one of many ISU Film and Television alumni who have gone on to work across the film, television, streaming, and digital content industries. Their diverse professional achievements reflect the program’s emphasis on combining creative development with practical industry experience.

Preparing the Next Generation of Screen Talent

Established in 2011, the Department of Film and Television at I-Shou University is committed to developing professionals with strong technical skills, creative capabilities, and industry awareness. Its curriculum covers key areas of screen production, including screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, acting, lighting, sound recording, and art design.

The program combines academic foundations with hands-on training and invites professionals from film, television, performing arts, and visual production to share their expertise with students. Through this approach, students gain opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world production practices.

In response to the rapid development of AI and digital technologies, the department began introducing courses related to artificial intelligence, digital technology, and new media applications as early as 2018. These initiatives have helped students develop capabilities that combine creativity, visual aesthetics, technology, and cross-disciplinary integration, preparing them for an evolving screen and digital content industry.

From Student Productions to Award-Winning Alumni

The department’s educational outcomes can also be seen in the achievements of its alumni and current students.

In addition to Tseng Jing-Hua, alumnus Chung Chia-Lin, who served as a producer of the drama The Waves of Change, was part of the production that received the Best Mini-Series Award at the 60th Golden Bell Awards.

Current students have also received recognition in national competitions. In the 2026 Deming Character Microfilm National Competition, 13th-generation students Chen Tung and Ma Min-Hsun collaborated on the short film Every Day, winning Second Prize, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

These achievements demonstrate students’ capabilities in creative production, storytelling, directing, and visual expression, while highlighting the continuity between classroom learning and professional creative practice

Creating an Environment for Film and Media Innovation

I-Shou University continues to strengthen its film and television education by integrating experienced faculty, industry resources, professional production facilities, and cross-disciplinary learning.

The department provides students with access to professional studios and filmmaking equipment, allowing them to experience the complete production process from planning and pre-production to filming. The University is also developing an intelligent media production environment that integrates VR, XR, and professional cinematography technologies, giving students opportunities to explore emerging approaches to visual storytelling and production.

The Center for Metaverse Technology Art and Design further expands this learning environment through a virtual production studio, where students can explore the intersection of art, technology, and immersive media. The facility also supports immersive exhibitions and presentations of VR projects, creating opportunities for students to showcase their creative work in new media formats.

Looking ahead, I-Shou University will continue to integrate professional expertise, industry resources, and cross-disciplinary innovation into its film and television education. By providing students with opportunities to learn, create, experiment, and gain hands-on production experience, ISU aims to prepare the next generation of screen professionals for an increasingly global and technology-driven industry.

From student productions gaining recognition in national competitions to alumni reaching major film, television, and international OTT platforms, these achievements reflect the sustained development of professional skills, creative passion, and perseverance. At ISU, students are given the space and resources to develop their own creative voices—and to take the next step toward audiences and opportunities around the world.
